How do I link Jane or Cliniko booking to my website?
Find your public booking link in the software’s online booking settings, then paste it into a Book online button on your site and into your Google profile. Check which appointment types and practitioners it shows, and test it on a phone. The exact menu names change, so use each tool’s help pages for the current steps.
Before you paste anything
Decide what you want a patient to see. Online booking in either tool is controlled by settings in your account, such as which treatments can be booked, which practitioners are bookable, how far ahead and how much notice is needed. If a setting is off, the link may show nothing or the wrong times.
Check these first:
- Appointment types. A new patient should be able to choose a first visit of the right length.
- Practitioners. Show only those taking new patients.
- Locations. If you have more than one, make sure the link goes to the right one.
- Notice and cancellation settings. These are visible to patients, so make sure they are accurate.
- Time zone. Check it is correct for your clinic. Odd times can come from a setting mismatch.
Where to find the link
In both Jane and Cliniko, look in the settings for online booking. You should find a public link to your booking page, and possibly options for a button or an embedded view. Names and menu positions change, so follow the vendor’s help page for your plan. Jane has guidance in our Jane guide, and Cliniko in our Cliniko guide.
Add the link in the right places
- Website button. Add it to the first screen of the homepage and the main menu.
- Service and condition pages. Put the same button on each.
- Google profile. Add the link as your booking or appointment link. See the profile booking button.
- Emails and bios. Add it to your email signature and social profiles.
- Practitioner pages. Link each page to that practitioner’s booking view if your tool supports it.
Use a plain link first. Add an embed only if you test it on mobile and it doesn’t slow the page.
Common problems
- “No times available.” Check practitioner schedules, booking windows and whether the appointment type is bookable online.
- Patients can’t find the right visit. Rename appointment types in plain words, such as “First visit, 45 minutes”.
- The link opens the wrong location or practitioner. Use the specific link for each.
- Weird times. Check time zone and schedule settings.
- Embed looks cramped on a phone. Switch to a button.
- You can’t tell where bookings come from. Ask whether the tool lets you add a source tag to the link, so you can see which button was used. See measuring booked first visits.
Not sure where your clinic stands? We’ll look at it the way a new patient does and send a short written report. No pitch.
What we do and don’t touch
We work with your website and with your booking software’s own settings that control what patients see. Your patient records stay in your clinic. We don’t need access to patient information to add or test a booking link.
Questions owners ask
Can I use Jane or Cliniko with any website platform?
Generally, yes. A link works on any platform, and embeds depend on what your site editor allows.
Does the booking software cost extra for online booking?
That depends on your plan. Check your current plan on the vendor’s site or ask their support.
Can I change the look of the booking page?
You can usually adjust some branding in the tool. Check what your plan allows.
